Get started with Events

Connect payments, create an event, share the public page, and check guests in. About 15 minutes if Connect is already live.

Before you start

Read the Events introduction if you have not already. You need a paid plan and Stripe Connect with charges enabled — card sales fail until Connect is ready.

Path for Connect: Administration → Payments. Full guide: Online payments.

Setup checklist

  1. 1

    Open Events

Sign in and go to coatcheck.app/business/events.

  2. 2

    Create the event

Set the fields guests will see:

    • Name, optional description, and cover photo
    • Start and end time
    • Timezone — required. The public page, sale windows, and tickets all use this zone
    • Venue name and address (map on the public page)

Save as a draft until the tiers and photo look right.

  3. 3

    Add pricing tiers

Each tier has a name, optional description, price (minimum 50¢), optional capacity, and a purchase window.

Examples: Early Bird, GA, VIP. Guests can mix tiers in one cart. Unlimited capacity is allowed if you leave quantity empty.

  4. 4

    Set refund policy

Choose whether buyers can request refunds, whether requests auto-approve some days before the event, or whether the event is no-refunds.

    Path: the event's Settings tab.

  5. 5

    Publish and share

Publish when you are ready to sell. The public URL looks like /e/your-slug-Ab12Cd34. Anyone with the link can open the page — there is no CoatCheck login required to buy.

    Tip
Draft and archived events do not sell. Unpublishing or ending the event stops checkout even if someone still has the URL.
  6. 6

    Buy a test ticket

Open the public page, pick a tier, and complete Stripe Checkout (test mode if you are still onboarding). You should get an email with a PDF. Signed-in buyers also see the pass under Tickets.

Seats are held for 15 minutes while the guest is checking out. If they abandon payment, the hold expires and the seats go back on sale.

At the door

Guests show the QR from the email PDF or from their tickets page. Staff scan it in the CoatCheck staff app. Each ticket is single-use.

  • A valid ticket checks in — you see the guest and the tier
  • Already checked-in tickets are rejected
  • Refunded or voided tickets are rejected

If a phone is dead, look the order up under the event's Customers list and use manual check-in.

After sales start

  • Customers — search, open orders, issue a staff refund
  • Transactions — paginated payments
  • Stats — revenue, sold, check-in rate, remaining capacity, broken out by tier
  • Edit with care — update sold tiers in place. Do not delete a tier that already has sales
